I have gotten the question, “How did you come up with the name Live Renewed for your blog?” on multiple occasions, so I thought I would take the chance to share with you all, my wonderful readers, – who made the switch with me from Blogger to Word Press (woo hoo!) – a little about what Live Renewed means to me. And more on the big switch-a-roo too. Okay, I didn’t mean for that to be cheesy, but…
Anyway, when I started this blog it was mostly as a journal for me. I thought it would be fun to record my thoughts on faith, on being a mom, and on the journey I was on toward becoming more “green”. The blog has evolved since then to be more focused on what I am learning about being a steward of all God’s resources, and what it means for me to live “frugally green”.
As I think about life, the way that I want to live and the journey that I am on, I realize that so much of life is about becoming. That we will never truly arrive, but we are continually on a journey toward becoming the person that God has created us to be. We are continually being renewed.
Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. Colossians 3:10
As a follower of Christ I believe that I have been given a new life, a life that is continually being renewed and refined by Him, to reflect more of Him in and through my life, and that is how I want to strive to live each and every day. So Live Renewed for me, means to live in that place, and to let God do the great work of renewing and refining my life, and to know that it is not about the destination, but about this journey of life that we all are on.
A huge part of that journey for me has been what God is teaching me about being a good steward of all the resources He has provided us with – our money, our time, our bodies and health, and this earth, and specifically stewarding our money and earthy resources – being “frugally green”.
So, Live Renewed is also about living in a way that is renewing to those resources as well. Being gentle on the earth, taking care of God’s creation so that it can be renewed, and a place that our children and our grandchildren and our great-grandchildren will be able to enjoy. Being conscious and mindful of the people that God has placed on this world with us and the way that our actions affect those close to us as well as those that we don’t know or even think about. Being conscious of our bodies and our health and the things that we eat and products we use. And being intentional with our time and money, and using them to give to and serve others. Mostly, Live Renewed is about living in a way that brings glory to God through my life.
So, that’s basically it. Hopefully that gives you a little better understanding of where I’m coming from. Over the next month or so, I’m planning to share more of my story, my journey toward living renewed and living frugally green, with you, so be sure to subscribe if you are interested in reading more.
Okay, now onto the other stuff. Now that I’m here on Word Press, things definitely look and feel a little different. I’m still figuring out WP myself and still working on tweaking and setting up the blog, the layout and the pages, and making sure that everything switched over correctly. I’d love it if you took a few minutes to browse around the archives and tell me if you see any missing or broken links, images, etc. You can leave a comment or just send me a quick e-mail at liverenewed(at)gmail(dot)com. I don’t have enough time to look through everything myself, so your help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, if you were a subscriber before, please check and make sure that you are still getting my posts in your reader, or through email, and re-subscribe if you need to. I hope that all of my subscribers got switched over seamlessly, but I’m not sure.
Also, as I mentioned last week, I have some great giveaways for popular e-books coming up in the next few weeks, so be sure to check back for those!
Thanks again for being such awesome readers of Live Renewed, I’m excited to see what this journey has in store!
