Housekeeping

We’re not talking about our homes today, but just some housekeeping around this place.  It’s been a busy few days/week and I kind of feel like I’m just trying to keep my head above water.  So, I wanted to take a few minutes to check in and catch up.

A Follow-Up Guest Post

I guest posted at Keeper of the Home yesterday about the key to keeping a clean home: prevention, as a follow up to my post on Monday about the daily chores that I do around my house.

From the post:

We’ve all heard the saying, “An ounce of preservation is worth a pound of cure”, but I’ve come up with a little different version that I use to motivate me around the house. “Five minutes of prevention, is worth an hour of cleaning.”

Basically, the idea is this – take care of little tasks that take 5 minutes or less as soon as you can, to avoid having to pick up or clean for an hour (or more) later on. Read more…

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was my daughter’s 3rd birthday! I can’t believe my sweet girl is 3!  We had a fun time just celebrating with our small group from church and then opening a few simple gifts last night.

My favorite gift that we gave my daughter was a hat made by my friend, Lauren.  I just love the hat, and all of the cute stuff that she makes, so next week I’m going to be running a giveaway for an item of your choice from her Etsy shop – adi & ellie designs.  Check out her stuff, and be sure to come back next week for the giveaway and a post on Frugally Green birthday ideas!

Here’s one of her hats – aren’t they so cute!!

Natural Healing and Prevention

After reading this great post on simple home remedies at Simple Organic, I’ve been rubbing my kid’s chests with jojoba oil and a drop or two of eucalyptus essential oil the past few nights, since they’ve both been battling stuffy noses, and have been happy that it seems to help them sleep better, and my son wakes up without a completely stuffed and crusted over nose – amazing.

Herbal Nurturing from Frugal Granola

As cold and flu season is quickly approaching, or may already be upon us in some cases, I’m super excited about this new resource from Frugal Granola – Herbal Nuturing: A Family Healing and Nurturing Guide.

This is the first year that I am going to really try to dive into natural preventions and remedies for colds and sickness, and just from looking through the table of contents I can tell that this will definitely by my go-to guide.  I’ll be doing an official review and giveaway in a few weeks, but I just wanted to share this with you in case you want, or need, to get started with natural healing and remedies sooner rather than later.

And, I also have another great giveaway in the works, so be sure to sign up for email updates, or subscribe in a reader, to be sure you don’t miss a single post!

Alright, I think that’s about it for now.  Time to go and get some much needed sleep!

Disclosure: I am an affiliate of Frugal Granola and will make a small commission from purchases made through my links.  Thanks for supporting Live Renewed!
