I believe I have mentioned on more than one occasion that I am not very crafty. In fact, I am probably like the opposite of crafty. Have I told you that I’ve been knitting a baby bonnet for over seven months and still haven’t finished it yet? I always get so excited to start a craft and then fizzle out before it ever gets completed.
Whenever I get the urge to do something crafty, I always have lots of great ideas and inspiration from other blogs, I think, “Okay, this time I’m going to actually do it. I’m going to start a project, and I’m going to work on it until I finish it.” Right.
It never happens the way I expect. Either a project takes way more time, and makes way more of a mess than I ever anticipated, so I get overwhelmed and give up.
Or it’s way more difficult than the supermom, uber-crafty blogger made it look, so I get overwhelmed and give up.
Or, instead of napping as usual, my kids wake up 15 minutes after I put them to sleep and I don’t get time time to work that I thought I would.
Am I really just making lame excuses? (Sigh.)
In any case, me and crafting don’t mix well, but I love to look at others’ beautiful crafts and be inspired that maybe some day, when I grow up, I too can be a crafty mama.
So, for all you crafties out there, here are some fun projects that reuse materials, which you may already have on hand. Or, if you’re more like me, here’s some eye-candy of beautiful crafts to look at and daydream about. Maybe some day…
- Felted Wool Roses from Pretty Handy Girl – Adorable, and they really do look easy to make. They are super cute on a sweater too.
- Pom Pom Bib Necklace from Little Miss Momma – *Love* the headband too!
- T-shirt Scarves from Just Something I Made – Wow! These are awesome, and if your husband has a busting at the seams t-shirt drawer, like mine, you may not even have to buy any shirts!
- T-shirt Headband from Craft Snob – Okay this one is seriously easy enough that I could actually do it, if I just put in the effort. I think this would add fun detail to ponytails for the upcoming warmer weather!
- Rosette Embellished Tank Top from Grace Violet – This would be so, so cute for my daughter this summer, and this one looks easy too, right?
All right, I am officially inspired. I think I’ll go pull out my sewing machine right now. I’ll let you know if anything beautiful and crafty magically appears from it!
Are you doing any crafts this weekend?

Oh my goodness…you sound just like me. I just want to say I’m glad I’m not the only non-crafty mom out there! Felted wool roses? Never!
I did try to make a quilt for my oldest daughter. I made the entire top, but, over a year later, it’s yet to be quilted or finished. Sigh….
Hi Erin!
It is SO good to hear that I am not the only one! Sometimes when I read others’ blogs it just feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t have a knack for producing beautiful, handmade things!
It’s fun to look though, isn’t it!
