This is Day 2 of the Green in 365 series!
I want to encourage you as we begin this year of making green changes, to start small. I’ll be posting tips and ideas every day, but please don’t feel like you have to do them all! Pick just a few changes that will work the best for you and your family, and make those changes into a habit before you move on to the next thing. Slow and steady wins the race, right?!
Our family has been on our green journey for around five years now, and we still have a lot to learn, a long ways to go, and we don’t do it perfectly all the time! This is a journey, and that’s what’s so great about it – the process of learning new things, making small changes, and looking back in a year to see how far you have come.
I know some of you will be tempted to dive right in and try to make every change, every single day. But I’m afraid that after just a short amount of time, maybe a week, maybe a month, that you’ll burn out and fall back into your old habits. I don’t want that to happen for you. So take it one small step, make one small change at a time. That’s how you climb a mountain right? Just one step at a time.
“One may walk over the highest mountain one step at a time.” – John Wanamaker

I really like this advice! It seems like so often we read blogs and assume that people “do it all” but I have to agree it is a process. We have also been on this green journey for about 5 years, and I swear I learn something new every week. And it is the small changes that seem to last in my house. And once we are used to one small thing, adding another doesn’t seem as difficult! Although I would love to make all the changes at once, it isn’t realistic 🙂 Great reminder!
Thanks Heather! Sometimes I feel like we take two steps forward and then one step back too. It’s important to give yourself grace and time to make changes to your lifestyle!
