This is Day 7 of the Green in 365 series!
So, now that you’ve implemented a “No Shoes in the House” policy, there’s one more step you can take to leave the pesticides, fertilizers, oil and gasoline, and more at your door. It’s also important to have a good doormat by your entryway for wiping your shoes off on! This helps to remove all of the nasty toxins that get tracked in on your shoes, before they can make their way into your home.
Encourage, and teach, your family to wipe their feet before they take their shoes off. You also want to try to keep the doormat off limits, so that your family isn’t walking over it in their socks and slippers, carrying the stuff off of the doormat and into your home.
And remember, a good doormat isn’t an excuse for keeping your shoes on, it’s a tool to use along with the “No Shoes” policy for keeping outside stuff out of your house!
Do you use a doormat at your house?
