Grain-Free Treats: "Cookie Dough" Bites

These grain-free "cookie dough" bites are addictive! It's hard to eat just one or two! Delicious Grain-Free Banana Muffins

Our family has been moving toward eating more grain-free over the past few months, and I've been trying to replace some of our old favorite recipes with good grain-free alternatives. One of my kid's favorite things for breakfast, or a snack, is muffins and I have a healthier banana bread muffin recipe that we love. I tried one grain-free banana muffin recipe and it just didn't go over well - it tasted too much like eggs and over-ripe bananas. Not a good combo! But, we had made the grain-free … [Read more...]

DIY Natural Easter Egg Dyes

This is Day 71 of the Green in 365 series! By Kim Daly of The Soulicious Life Coloring eggs is a spring tradition across this country, both for those who celebrate Easter and for those of us who celebrate "Happy Spring." Though I've never been a fan of hard-boiled eggs myself (I leave those to SoulDaddy to eat), I am a huge fan of the family time and creativity it inspires. Unfortunately, conventional food dyes and artificial colorings pose a number of hazards. They have … [Read more...]

This is Day 51 of the Green in 365 series! By Hilary from Accidentally Green I really wish my family could afford to buy all organic, all the time – especially because I would love to avoid exposure to pesticides and genetically modified organisms. But unfortunately, our current grocery budget just doesn’t allow it. Even with a limited budget I try to buy as much organic food as possible, lots of fresh produce – and I avoid buying produce listed on the Environmental … [Read more...]

This is Day 33 of the Green in 365 series! It's the month of love and Valentine's Day is just around the corner. Since my daughter is in school now she has to hand out Valentine's to her class. But, it so frustrating to me that every month there seems to be a reason to hand out candy at school, so I try not to add to the candy craze by having her hand out candy-free Valentines. When you're in school though, there's not much cooler than giving and receiving candy. To help her feel good … [Read more...]

how to tourn solid bar castile soap into liquid castile soap

I hope everyone is having a lovely week! We are having crazy weather here in Northern Indiana! Spring-like temperatures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then I woke up to an inch or two of snow this morning and the high isn't supposed to be above 20°. Brrrrr! I will say that the warmer temperatures definitely make it easier to get through the cold winter weather, and make me excited for actual Spring, which is really not too far away! Has anyone started on their garden plans yet? I need … [Read more...]

knitting: a creative life

Last week I was over at Simple Homemade sharing how I'm working on incorporating more creativity and creating into my life. It's been a fun process over the past few months for this uncrafty mama to start trying to be more intentional about finding time and space in my life to create and be a little crafty. From the post: If you’ve followed along with me on my blog, Live Renewed, for any length of time you’ll know that I consider myself an un-crafty mama. What this means to me is that I … [Read more...]
