GIVEAWAY – Herbal Nurturing from Frugal Granola

November 10, 2010 By Emily McClements
Thank you for supporting this site with purchases made through links in this post.

Ready to remove toxic cleaners from your home? Find out how!

Herbal Nurturing from Frugal Granola

Cold & Flu Season. Ugh! We’ve already battled with some stuffy noses and coughs at our house, and I know that this is the just the beginning.  When you have little ones, and even when you yourself, feel sick and under the weather, you would do anything you can to help them, and you, feel better!

I’m so excited that today I get to offer you a great giveaway from Michele at Frugal Granola, Herbal Nurturing: A Family Healing and Learning Guide. This ebook is full of recipes that will get you well on your way to mixing up safe and effective homemade remedies for everything from scrapes and sunburns to cold and flu relief.

I’ll be honest that I have not actually tried any of the recipes in Herbal Nurturing yet, they do require ingredients that most of us probably just don’t have on hand in our cupboards.  But, there are several recipes that I really want (and need!) to try, so I am working on making up a list of ingredients to buy from Mountain Rose Herbs. First on my list are the Three-in-One Healing Balms and Cough Syrup.

One part of the ebook that I have been able to use, and really appreciated, is the urgent care option for many of the recipes.  It gives quick, and easy, remedies for times when you don’t have ingredients on hand, or are too sick to make up a whole recipe, or your child is awake coughing in the middle of the night.

As I write this, it’s 5:30 AM, and I have been up with my daughter who was having coughing fits during the night. After giving her a drink of water, a spoonful of raw honey, and rubbing her chest, back and neck with jojoba oil and a drop or two of eucalyptus essential oil, she is back sleeping soundly (these remedies are not in Herbal Nurturing, I read about them elsewhere).  I am so happy to have some quick, easy, natural options on hand so that I don’t have to rely on over the counter medicine and so I can get my daughter back to sleep as quickly as possible, even though I might not be able to go back to sleep myself!

Here’s how to enter the giveaway:

1. Mandatory Entry: Leave a comment.  I’d love to hear your favorite natural remedy, but if you don’t have one, you can just go ahead and leave a comment about why you’d like to win the book.

Additional Bonus Entries – Please leave a SEPARATE COMMENT for each one to ensure you receive your extra entries:

2. Subscribe to Live Renewed, or tell me if you already do.

3. Click over to Frugal Granola and subscribe to her blog as well.

4. “Like” Live Renewed and Frugal Granola on Facebook.

5. Follow @liverenewed and @frugalgranola on twitter and tweet: Enter to win Herbal Nurturing by @frugalgranola from @liverenewed and fight colds and flu naturally this season! http://bit.ly/alYBiJ

6. Leave a comment on any of my other posts and then come back here and tell me where you commented.

Giveaway is open to anyone and everyone, and entries will be accepted until Tuesday, November 16th at 11:59 pm EDT. The winner will be chosen using random.org and will be announced on Wednesday, November 17th.

As a bonus, Frugal Granola is offering 25% off Herbal Nurturing with the code RENEWED25! So be sure to stop by and pick up a copy for yourself.  If you are the winner of the giveaway and have already purchased the ebook, you will receive a refund.  Thanks so much to Michele of Frugal Granola for offering this giveaway and discount code!

I would LOVE to win this book as I am deeply committed to using natural remedies for myself and my family. I keep manuka honey, tea tree oil, hydrogen peroxide, and Olbas Oil on hand at all times. You can do a lot with these items. We also use coconut oil liberally, and I make various natural concoctions when any of us are under the weather (for example, honey and lemon/ACV for sore throats, ume-shoyu-kudzu as a tonic, or thyme tea for coughs/congestion). I recently made the Cold Kicker remedy, and I would very much love to learn even more about how to use herbs to heal. Thanks for the giveaway!

Good morning. I just discovered your blog last week but I already made your Mac and Cheese. It was very good and so much more preferable to boxed (even from “healthy” stores.) I am definitely interested in doing more home-made recipes for cooking and cleaning. This book would be a great start to achieving that.

I have two favorites. One – cut onion by the bedside to help with coughing – works like a charm! Two – a spoonful of raw honey. These are two that I’ve picked up from all of you lovely ladies (mommy bloggers) that work so hard to keep us informed.

I am just getting into natural living and healing, so haven’t delved much into the realm of things but would love to learn with this book! So far I’ve found honey to be the most helpful with a scratchy throat or when a cold is coming on. And I use steam usually with a peppermint tea bag to try to clear out sinuses when I have a bad cold.

As a fairly new mommy and new to, but eager to learn, the art of frugal and home made household and family care products, I would love to check out this e-book and put some remedies to work in my home, especially now that the first cold has hit and we’re dealing with the ramifications, trying desperately to help baby be comfortable without all of the chemicals, and with so few baby safe products available. I’d love to win this!
