I came across this segment of CBS’s show The Talk on another blog and I just really felt like I needed to share it. The most poignant moment for me was when they show the audience and they all just have this “deer in the headlights” kind of look, some are shaking their heads, and they just look shocked.
It is shocking when you start to learn about all of the things in our environment that could be, and probably are, harmful to us and our children. The thing that just floors me is that so many people have no idea. I would have had the exact same look on my face three years ago.
So, what do we do about it? Well, we take baby steps, we share what we’re learning with our friends and family, we teach our children so that they can make better choices, we vote with our dollars by buying products that are safe and not full of toxins, we learn from each other and help one another in a community like I’m hoping to create here at Live Renewed.
This is one big reason why I do what I do here. I am passionate about helping people learn that there is a way to live green and live frugally, by making small changes that will lead to big lifestyle change over time. I am so honored that you all join me here, that you read along with me, and that you have joined me on this journey to reduce you and your families’ exposure to everyday toxins.
What do you think when you watch this video? Is it overwhelming to you, or are you shocked, as I was, by the audience’s reaction that they just seem to have no idea. What do you think we can do to make this message, and this way of living, more mainstream?

This just confirms to me how important it is to keep doing what I’m doing – making food from scratch, buying some things organic, etc. I’ve just recently started cleaning with different products such as baking soda and vinegar and really need to research soap/shampoo, etc.
